Universal & Sustainable Design

This group project was based on the needs of retired couple looking to revamp their home through a master bedroom and master bedroom remodel. My group was able to collaborate when it came to researching and selecting sustainable furniture, fixtures, and equipment to use in this plan. A schematic design was done through AutoCAD, a Specs. Sheet in Word, and a 3D model rendering in SketchUp. My role in this project was to take the AutoCAD plan and create a 3D model and renderings of the spaces.

The Palmer Home

The objective of this assignment was a remodel the Palmer's one-bedroom apartment located at 101 N. Elm Street, New York City, NY.  Mrs. Palmer wished to open up the small kitchen to the living area to create a more open-plan environment. Existing appliances were reused but the cabinetry was replaced. In addition, the study was to become a second bedroom with a closet. All doors were replaced and all windows were replaced.

Saffer House: FACS 240 Concepts in Interior Design

This project was based on the needs of a family that enjoyed hosting get-togethers, as well as had many kids involved in sports. The family also had large dogs with black fur. The couple enjoys traveling including their favorites, Greece and Amsterdam. With the description of the family, I was to design their living room and kitchen spaces in a way that suited their lifestyle.

SketchUp She-Shed

For my first assignment using SketchUp, I was to create a she-shed to be 3D printed. I wanted to make sure the shed enough texture for the printed version to have some unique depth. Therefore, I challenged myself by created a stone wall texture. The images below were rendered using Podium through SketchUp.

Hawthorne House

The goal of this assignment was to take a given house floor plan, and redesign the space to fit the given scenario. As I learned AutoCAD I was able to redesign the space as well as present the necessary documentations required for the project including elevations, details, and floor plans.

The Russell Home

The Russells just recently purchased a one-acre oceanfront property in West Palm Beach, FL. He is a businessman who will soon be retiring from his work in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Russell is an art school graduate who would like to start oil painting from a new art studio. The couple has one child who is married and has a child. Mr. and Mrs. Russell have retained my services to design a new home for them on the property they purchased. The couple provided me a list of specific spaces and details they wanted in their new home including an open floor plan, master bedroom suite, kitchen, family room, formal dining room, 2 additional bedrooms, guest bathroom, powder room, art studio, and exterior patio. The home also needed to be ADA forward as Mrs. Russell had a hip replacement and was undergoing recovery. Mr. Russell also has a corvette that he is restoring and planning on storing at this new house.
